A collage image of the Supreme Court justices combined with an image of the Supreme Court building and textures created from the U.S. Constitution document.

The FRONTLINE film, Supreme Revenge, tracks the GOP’s decades-long effort to transform the supreme court into a conservative majority. On the digital team we decided this was a good opportunity to craft an experience for the website that was lighter and more playful than our typical content.

This Supreme Court Quiz was based on a previous quiz we did. I wanted the imagery to match the tone of the piece—to be more playful and illustrative while still representing the justices’ portraits in a straightforward way. I started out by sketching some different collage illustration styles for the justice images.

I updated our quiz template with new styles and I added some basic scoring functionality.

I landed on a final collage style that combined textural elements from the U.S. Constitution document with photos of the Supreme Court building.
